About Vodice - General Information about Vodice in Dalmatia - Croatia

Vodice, in Croatia, is a harbour town in the Sibenik-Knin county in northern Dalmatia. The city was founded by the Romans and named Arausa. The current name derived from the word ‘voda’, meaning water, referring to springs that supply water to the entire area. This was first recorded in the fifteenth century.

The Vodice Marina lies in the northeastern part of the city at the Vrulje Cove. Just off the Gulf of Vodice are the islands of Prvic, Tijat and Logoru. Similar to the rest of the region, the climate here is mild Mediterranean with temperatures ranging from 6.5°C in January to around 24°C in July.

Today, with a population of around 9,400, Vodice is a centre for farming, fishing and tourism.
